Back To Basics…They Are the Keys!

Do you find yourself looking for the next best thing, the greatest new idea or concept? The next best lead source, the newest Facebook ad, the new employee etc.?

There are times in your Agency that this may be important to find something NEW, but more often than not you are probably failing to fulfill the basics that are the foundation of your business. As you reflect on your week on this Friday, answer these following questions:

  1. What was/were my successes this week?
  2. What was/were my shortcomings or disappointments this week?

Once you have answered those questions then you must dig deeper and ask quite simply, “What were the basics I failed to follow-through with on that led to this? Was it not setting a daily activity target, was it not performing your client reviews, was it not holding your weekly Team meeting, was it not measuring your results, etc.

Today’s message is brief because I want you to have time to answer these questions. Where are you failing to complete the basics and your Agency is struggling? What are new initiatives or concepts you are embarking on that are taking away the focus you should have on basics?

THOUGHTS TO PONDER TODAY: Basics are the habits of long term success, master the basics and stick to them and you give yourself room to grow and expand. Don’t master the basics and the greatest concept or idea does not matter because your foundation is not strong! Decide on three (3) basics you will get back to next week, write them down and measure yourself against them.

  1. Awesome reminder. I agree the basics must be mastered and remain the foundation of your business. Where I fell short this week was not ending my day with a plan for the next day, I was in a reaction mode all week and it was an exhausting week needless to say. I must plan for success, not hope for it! Planning my week right now!!
