Darren Hardy, in “The Compound Effect” spends some time discussing this idea of “Do The Unexpected” and I believe it can be a direct correlation to your Insurance Agency.
He goes on to say, “The most popular restaurant is McDonald’s, the most popular drink is Coca-Cola, the most popular beer is Budweiser, the most popular wine is Franzia (yeah, the stuff that comes in a box!). Consume those “popular” things, and you’ll be part of the common, average pack. There’s nothing wrong with ordinary. I just prefer to shoot for extraordinary.” (p. 151)
Is Insurance boring and mundane to you? If it is, that already is a problem!!!! Insurance and your Agency does not have to be mundane, boring, or dull. Yet, are you going about your business following the pack. Let me give you some examples:
- Do you purchase internet leads and follow up with calls and maybe email?
- Do you still do cold calling?
- Do you still door knock?
- Do you ask for referrals?
- Do you send out Birthday cards?
- Do you send out Christmas cards?
None of these are WRONG, but most every Agency is doing this and so thus you are just staying among the PACK.
THOUGHTS/IDEAS TO PONDER TODAY: If you are tired of following the pack and you want to no longer be ordinary, HOW CAN YOU BE DIFFERENT? Have you ever followed up with an internet lead via Video Email, or voice clip? Can you cold call via social media, by utilizing Facebook Live or Instagram Live, and when is the last time you saw an Insurance Agency doing this? How about sending a half year birthday card i.e. birthday is December 20th and you send a “Happy Half Birthday June 20th” I assure you your card will not get lost with all the other ones on their birthday!!! And how about instead of a Christmas Card you send a Thanksgiving Card? IF YOU WANT TO BE DIFFERENT YOU HAVE TO ACT DIFFERENT!!!!!
