Lemonade…Hippo…General…What Are These, And Should You Be Worried?

I spent the entire day today decluttering my house and freeing up space for CLARITY.  Too many things does not always lead to happiness, in fact many times all of that STUFF  can lead to overwhelm and complexity.  Yet, that is not my message for you today.

As I listened to Pandora radio today while working on cleaning and organizing, I was struck by something very interesting, concerning and intriguing for those of us in the Insurance Industry.

I heard Commercials numerous times for the following Insurance Companies…two of them that are brand new to the marketplace.  “Lemonade”  a Home Insurance provider that promotes customized Insurance via a website and app for Renters and Home Insurance.  “Hippo” a Home Insurance provider that promotes to customized Insurance via a website by only entering your address.  “The General” Shaquille O’Neal speaking about low cost Auto Insurance and directs you to go to the “General.com”

What was interesting, concerning and intriguing was not that these Insurance carriers were new to the marketplace BUT that I heard there advertising “message”  at least 10 times each throughout the day!  I was left with the thought, “I did not hear any of my own advertising nor any advertising for any of the Insurance Agencies that I currently coach!

The success of any business is “MARKETING”, and the reality is that we are being out marketed!! Although, the Power comes in knowing, and now you know that there will always be competition BUT ARE YOU MARKETING AT THE HIGHEST LEVELS POSSIBLE?

THOUGHTS TO PONDER TODAY:  Are you familiar with your competitors?  When is the last time you evaluated your Marketing plan?  Are you solely relying on your carriers marketing to support your Agency?  How can you be a differentiator with your Agency?  Is your name, business recognizable in  your market when Insurance is mentioned?  Advertising, marketing works as proof from my experience today.  Utilizing this knowledge how can you and I improve our Marketing footprint?
