Listen To Hear….AND How To Find Solutions In The Challenges

Back to the office today and an opportunity to meet with some of my Insurance Agency Owners.  I had no set agenda or no set goals for the meeting (not really on purpose but rather because I wasn’t prepared coming back from vacation)  Yet, what being unprepared for my meetings today allowed me was a chance to STOP and LISTEN.

I sat with multiple Agency Owners today and just had a conversation about what was challenging them; items like rates, competition, staffing, unemployment claims, and personal items like their families, kids, grandkids.  I realized in that moment the Power of having someone to listen to you.  I could be completely wrong (it wouldn’t be the first time) but I believe my Agency Owners walked away today feeling better and had some possible solutions to some of their challenges.  They had someone who was willing to listen, not judge, not minimize nor maximize their issues but rather just listen.  I watched as they took notes from my feedback and ideas that came up from just listening to them.  I got the greatest benefit that all of us long for, to be valued and that you offer something to others.  Owning a business can be a lonely place, your employee friends can’t relate when they clock-in and clock-out every day and leave WORK at WORK.  You cannot always share with your loved ones because you don’t want to burden them or stress them with your challenges.

As I write this message today I could not help but think about all of my Insurance Agency Owners and/or support staff.  And it left me with many thoughts for you to take into existence for you, what could be possible.

THOUGHTS TO PONDER TODAY:  Who knows your challenges and struggles?  Sharing your challenges and/or struggles doesn’t make you weak it makes you HUMAN.  What could be the value of having someone who just listens to you?  What could be the value you provide for someone else if you just stopped to listen to them?  How many other people in this Industry of Insurance are RIGHT NOW having the same challenges, frustrations and struggles you are and what could come into creation if you shared with each other?  Not casting judgement but rather being vulnerable and open to share.  It is upon being open that we allow ourselves the ability to learn and expand.  DON’T LISTEN TO LISTEN…LISTEN TO HEAR and together we find solutions together.  Nothing in life is created in isolation!
