In 17+ years in the Insurance Industry both as an Agency Business Owner and in the Recruiting, Training and Coaching of Insurance Agents I have heard far too many times, “I want to help people and protect them from catastrophes in their lives.” That may hold truth and there is nothing wrong with it YET that is not the core purpose of your Agency/Business!!
Business and your Agency is no different, they exist to generate PROFITS…PERIOD! Yes, your business can be a vehicle to serve the needs of the marketplace and provide solutions to problems consumers experience but YOU MUST realize that if your Business is not structured and measured based on PROFITS, you will FAIL. In order for you to have fulfillment to the marketplace and sustainability for yourself and your personal existence, your Agency/Business must generate profits. It has been stated far too often , “money is the root of all evil.” I agree, somewhat but my statement would be more like this, “the LOVE of money is the root of all evil.” What does that one word difference really mean to you as a Business Owner/Agency Owner? I look at it in this fashion, Businesses succeed and fail based on profits and if you are not in the mindset of a businessowner that you must generate profits you will fail. Money and profits are not evil in fact they are reality, everything in our world requires MONEY! As you evaluate your Business/Agency you must recognize the core strength you possess as the Owner is the ability to generate profits, sustain Teams and expand for the future. Profits are necessary to sustain business and progress, so money and profits are not evil. It is when all you look at in your Business is money/profits as all you LOVE. Profits and money is the tool of building business and lives and if you don’t accept that your business will cease to exist. Once you have clarity that your Business/Agency’s purpose is PROFITS you gain the ability to fulfill your deeper passion of serving others and solving problems in the marketplace.
THOUGHTS TO PONDER TODAY: Is your Agency/Business profitable? How long can you sustain your operations under the current status? When is the last time you evaluated the Profit/Loss of your Business? If you are passionate about serving people and solving their needs and problems, how can you do that if you fail to sustain your Business and Teams with profits? It is okay to be selfish about generating profits BECAUSE without profits your business fails, dies and your calling within the operations disappears too!
