Reactive vs. Active

“I have too much paperwork and service work to get my calls done.” “I would love to work on my marketing and sales BUT I have too many customers calling and follow-up calls to make.”

Have you ever said any of these comments in reflecting on your day within your Agency? The answer is an astounding YES, well unless you are a LIAR! In 17+ years of Coaching, Recruiting and Training Insurance Agents this is an astounding, overwhelming issue. I call it the issue of being “Reactive vs. Proactive.”

Established Insurance Agencies and even start-up Agencies get trapped in this pattern very early on. Trapped by the demands of their clients, trapped by the demands of their Teams and very quickly you find yourself on the defensive. Well, I am here to let you know that your AGENCY will grind to a halt when you are spending time on defense and not on offense ON A REGULAR BASIS. Let me simply define why this is crucial in a basic way that all of us can relate and understand.

REACTIVE/DEFENSE takes away your control and gives it to others, be it your clients/customers OR even worse your Team! PROACTIVE/OFFENSE gives you 100% control, you are making the decisions, your eyes are set on TARGETS, MEASURABLE RESULTS, SYSTEMATIC PROCESSES AND YOU HAVE THE POWER!

THOUGHTS TO PONDER TODAY: Are you finding your office door is 50 pounds when you open and walk in in the morning BUT 1000 pounds when you try and go back out to Market, Prospect, and/or Develop your team? You are sitting at your phone or at your desk right now, what are the PROACTIVE activities you have scheduled for today? If you cannot find any PROACTIVE activities scheduled, I assure you that your time and your day will be dictated by that of your clients/customers and/or Staff. Are you feeling tired, burned out, unmotivated…ALMOST LIKE GROUNDHOG DAY? There is a good possibility that you feel that way because you have been stuck in REACTIVE/DEFENSIVE patterns and NOW IT IS TIME TO TAKE BACK YOUR CONTROL…TAKE BACK YOUR POWER AND BUILD YOUR DAY AROUND PROACTIVE/OFFENSE ACTIVITIES.

  1. As a business owner in the insurance industry for 29 years I see this as one of the biggest killers not only of your business but more importantly your life … Not having a daily Proactive Plan means you have no plan to grow … this message is so powerful if you are serious about building a business that gives you a better life.
