THREE CHOICES TO IMPROVE YOUR ASSOCIATIONS

Yesterday I discussed the impact of the influences you allow around you and if you were honest and answered the questions in the THOUGHTS TO PONDER SECTION, chances are you found someone or some people that are not improving your path in life but rather may be a hinderance.

So what do you do with that?

In “The Compound Effect” by Darren Hardy it gives three answers to dealing with your Influencers:

  1. Dissociation-as parents we control and monitor the people that our children hang around with. If we see patterns or behaviors we don’t allow them to be around those children. In life you must do this for yourself. There are some people that are not good for you to be around. You cannot change people, you can only change your decision in being around them. THIS COULD EVEN INCLUDE FAMILY!!!
  2. Limited Association-think about this in this way. We all have relationships we could spend with someone for three minutes but couldn’t spend three hours. And relationships we could spend three hours but not three days. Are you spending three hours with a person that should be a three minute relationship? IF YOU ARE HONEST WITH YOURSELF YOU CAN ANSWER THIS QUESTION
  3. Expanded Associations-this is where I am headed in my life. Seeking those relationships that currentle emulate what I long for in career, family, marriage and financial success. And more than that finding where I could be in an environment that fosters this. Is it networking groups, toastmasters, investment clubs, entrepreneurial conventions, churches etc.

It starts by asking and answering these questions:
Who has the type of relationship I want?
How can I spend (more) time with that person?
Who can I meet who can positively influence me?
